Despite their importance, previous research suggests that these costs are often overlooked during the decision-making process, both in Slovak municipalities and in other countries as well. This study identifies the current situation in Slovakia regarding transaction costs, which we split into ex-ante transaction costs and transaction costs occuring during the contract period, specifically those associated with the municipal waste management service.
