Author guidelines

Focus of the journal:

The journal publishes original scientific papers, reviews, reports from events, and scientific activities. The articles must correspond to the areas on which the journal is focused: business and economics, political economy, public finance and fiscal theory, corporate management, banking, insurance, public sector, public-private partnerships, public administration, social sciences, sociology, social politics, social work, development aid, political science, etc..

Publication policy:

The journal is published twice a year. Articles are released continuously, which means new articles are published immediately after they are accepted and approved. The journal issue remains open for some time until it is filled with articles that are gradually released. This model allows the rapid spreading of new knowledge and ensures the regular publication of the journal without delays and discontinuance. The journal also reserves the right to publish an special issue as a way to respond more flexibly to extraordinary topics, events or projects.

Publishing fees:

Publishing in the journal is free of charge. The journal does not charge any fees related to the submission of manuscripts, the peer review process, or the processing and publication of the articles themselves. Published articles are not remunerated.

Copyright:

Authors retain all copyright and publishing rights without restrictions, granting the journal the right of first publication of the article. The journal reserves the right to edit the accepted manuscripts. The journal brings open access articles which are available for readers immediately after their publication. The articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons public licence CC BY-ND. Before using the licenced material, please, make sure to know all the conditions of the licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/.

Guidelines for manuscript submission:

  • Authors can submit their manuscripts at any time during the year through the email; the manuscripts are delivered to the journal’s editorial office only in electronic form to the executive editor’s address listed in the contacts.
  • Authors submit their own original work that has not been previously published anywhere (nor simultaneously submitted to other journal editorial offices).
  • We accept manuscripts in Slovak, Czech, or English. However, in all language versions, the quality of the original text must be at a very good level; therefore, the editorial office reserves the right to reject an article that does not meet this criteria.
  • For manuscripts in any of the mentioned languages, we require an English abstract and keywords to always be included.
  • The submitted manuscripts should also contain the JEL classification – Journal of Economic Literature, the structure of whichis available on the AEA – American Economic Association website https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php.
  • When submitting a manuscript, please provide all necessary personal information, such as full name in the format of first name and last name, the institution where you work, your contact details (phone, email), and ORCiD.
  • The manuscript should not exceed 15 standardized manuscript pages (30 lines per page, 60 characters per line including spaces), including tables, graphs, references, and the English abstract. Manuscripts should be prepared in standardized format in MS Word, using Times New Roman font size 12, single spacing. The format of the graphs should be adapted to the journal format (B5) and the fact that the journal is black and white. Tables should be presented in MS Word or MS Excel. Apart from headings and subheadings, do not highlight or underline the text.
  • When citing documents, use the author-date method. In the text, the first entry (author’s surname) is given in parentheses, followed by a comma and the year of publication of the cited document. If necessary, the number of cited pages is also given in parentheses after the year. If two or more documents have the same first entry and the same year, they are distinguished by lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.) after the year within the parentheses.
  • The list of bibliographic references should be presented in accordance with the current STN ISO 690: 2022 standard.
  • Individual items in the list of bibliographic references should be listed in alphabetical order, and the references should not be numbered.
  • Bibliographic references should be written in the Latin script.
  • The structure of the manuscript is available as the Template AAP.

Manuscript acceptance:

When the manuscript is accepted, aligns with the journal’s aims, and follows the Guidelines for manuscript submission, it undergoes a review process by two independent reviewers, arranged by the journal’s editorial team. The author will be notified immediately after the end of the review process, no later than within a month of sending the manuscript. Unpublished manuscripts are not returned to authors. In case of the manuscripts being rejected, the editors will inform the author of the reason for rejection.

Peer review process:

The journal ensures an anonymous review process by two independent reviewers (double-blind peer review process). Reviewers strive to provide feedback as quickly as possible, in accordance with the review process. Reviewers do not know the author of the article (identifying information is removed from the text), and reviewers remain anonymous to the author as well.

Publishing:

After incorporating the reviewers’ comments and the article’s approval by the editorial board and the journal’s editors, articles are continuously published in the next possible issue. The journal has adopted Ethical standards, which guide the entire publication process and adhere to the Principles of transparency and best practices in the academic environment.
